The Importance of Printing Lead Time for Bulk Mailings

A print mail magic wand still does not exist. If it did, mailers would be in every mailbox imaginable.

So until one is invented, we need a bit of time to get your mailer prepared, printed, and out to the post office.

Here are important points to consider when planning a bulk mailing:

  • Allow for Design Time. If you have not designed your own mailer, Campaign Now has an excellent designer for your use. But our designer needs a few days to put your ideas to paper and make your mailer shine.
  • Allow for Copywriting Time. As with design, if you have not written your own letter, Campaign Now has a skilled wordsmith to assist you. But our copywriter needs time to get the right words flowing well.
  • Allow Time for Printing and Sorting. Once everything is set and ready, printing can only proceed as fast as our printers will allow. For instance, a 1,000-piece mailer with one-page letter, one-page remittance, a remittance envelope and an outer envelope will take about two days from start to finish. This is from the moment we begin printing to the minute the 1,000 mailings are dropped off at the post office.

What are we doing for those two days? We are printing and organizing so that nothing gets out of order. Then, using our inserter, we are making sure all the envelopes get stuffed and sealed. Finally, we sort the mailings into the correct USPS boxes and take them to a postal facility.

The best thing you can do is give us as much time as possible before your desired “drop date” or when you want the mail to hit people’s mailboxes. The more time we have, the better we can meet all of your wildest expectations!
